A Message from Founder/President

Hi folks and thanks for taking a look at our website. After spending 25 years in Los Angels working as an actor and producer, family matters and a burgeoning film industry have brought me back to my home town of Baton Rouge, La. After seeing how fast the industry was growing in Louisiana and how spread out it had become (from New Orleans to Shreveport ... about a 300 mile radius), I created LocationTalent.com™ in order to more easily connect talent with those searching for talent. I set my goals on that issue as well as on a more global vision, that of creating a website that stores info in the form of pictures, resumes and for those who choose, demo reels for all personnel working in the film industry worldwide and make that database searchable geographically.

Soon, finding the any kind of talent anywhere on the globe will be as easy as clicking a mouse. Also by utilizing our built in software, agents and managers can make submissions for roles within minutes and drastically reduce the time spent doing so under normal circumstances. Likewise, casting directors, producers and directors can search for talent right from their computers, again... geographically before bringing the talent in to read. Likewise, UPM's and Line Producers can find the personnel they are looking for by searching one web site, something that often requires a multiple-site search. I know, I'm a producer and have been there, done that.

I want also to say that this site in by no means designed to replace the casting director, or any of the KEY positions mentioned above. Quite the contrary. It is designed specifically to make their job easier, and here's how:

1. By provide all personnel working in the Entertainment Industry a venue where their presence can be felt.
   
2. To make the job of finding talent and crew easier and more efficient. Producers will never replace the casting director. They are far too important and must vet the talent before bringing them in to see the director and producer, not to mention the countless other tasks they perform.
   
3. And to that end, actors usually rely on their auditions to get jobs. Frankly, that is not giving themselves the best chance to succeed. Having a demo reel readily available to show what you can do once you get the job, is of the utmost importance. Also, casting directors don't always have the luxury of seeing the total range and actor can play. You've heard of "type casting"? Well it happens all the time. Therefore, a demo reel can help them to see you in a way that they may never have before and may never get the chance to if you don't show them .
   
4. Agents submissions will become as easy as 1,2,3! The process of creating submissions for a casting director by agents and that casting directors ability to respond, will literally be cut into 1/4 of the time usually required... if not less.

Not everyone will want to use the site. Those steeped in the tried and true ways they have done things for many years may resist. But anyone that thinks that this is not the way of future casting has not been paying attention. It simply makes too much sense.

Eventually, we plan to have thousands upon thousands of demo reels available on LocationTalent.com™ and even many more profiles. Not only of performers but crew personnel as well. Directors, Production Designers, Editors, Composers, Costume Designers, Set Dressers, Make Up Artists, Special Effects personnel, Stunt Players and anyone else who uses demo reels to promote themselves, will find LocationTalent,com™ a useful tool for that purpose.

Not only do we want to make it easy for you to be found, but we want to promote you as well. IN THE SPOTLIGHT will hopefully become a place where Hollywood looks for that "up and coming talent" working on location, then "gives them their break". Likewise the site will become a pace where crew can actually put a face to their name... be seen and recognized for the incredibly invaluable and hard work that they perform every day on set!

As we go through our beta testing phase, we ask that you send us any and all comments or suggestions that you feel might make LocationTalent.com™ a more enjoyable and "user friendly" site.

Remember, you do not have to have a demo reel to join us and receive a FREE membership. We hope that you will do so today and become a part of our growing community of industry professionals and more important, become a part of a database, one we feel will very soon become an industry standard.
